PDRN skincare on video, September 2026
What is PDRN?
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a mix of DNA fragments, usually purified from salmon or trout sperm cells, used in skincare for repair, plumping and glow. It began as an injectable in Korean clinics, where research links it to wound healing and reduced inflammation, and moved into serums, creams, masks and mists in 2025–26.
That origin is why creators call it "salmon DNA" or "salmon sperm" skincare. Newer launches use fermented or plant-derived PDRN instead.

What this means for marketers
Reach comes from incidental mentions
Name-drops inside makeup, POV and routine videos had the highest median views (2.03M) of any angle. Lifestyle creators buy reach. They don't explain the ingredient.
Salmon origin is the explainer that travels
9 of the 10 videos that named PDRN's salmon origin were in the top 45, with a 2.0M median, about 1.5× other explainers.
The clinic angle is open
Only 5% of videos tie PDRN to skin-booster injections, and none explain how a serum differs from a clinic treatment. Honest clinic-vs-serum framing is uncontested.
Myth-busting reaches without paid support
Myth-busting hooks averaged 1.53M median views with just 12% sponsored, the lowest paid share of any hook.
Unboxing seeding rarely breaks out
Product reveals are 43% of everyday PDRN videos, with an 830-view median. Seeding briefs need a hook beyond "unbox with me".
Fermented PDRN needs a contrast
Vegan and fermented claims trail salmon-origin explainers (1.17M vs 2.0M median). L'Oréal framed its fermented PDRN against salmon and drew 15.1M views (watch).
